ICC Promotes the Daniel Pearl World Music Days initiative

In cooperation with the Daniel Pearl Foundation, the ICC has begun to distribute information and encourage students to host events as part of the Daniel Pearl World Music Day program. Named for Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and killed while reporting in Pakistan, Daniel Pearl World Music Days are events featuring any kind of musical presentation—from screening a CD to hosting a battle of the bands to a full-on concert performance—  that also highlights the values of tolerance, humanity and a hate-free world.

Dr. Judea Pearl, Daniel’s father and a professor at UCLA, contacted the ICC after reading about the various student advocacy training programs hosted by the ICC. Seeing a strong connection between the ICC’s educational goals and the principles of tolerance, openness and understanding, the ICC will be joining the Daniel Pearl Foundation and many other organizations around the world in promoting and encouraging students to become involved with or host their own events in conjunction with the Daniel Pearl World Music Days.

Hosted every year since 2002 in October, the month of Daniel’s birthday, the World Music Days have grown to include over 1,000 concerts in 62 countries around the world. Students may get involved by either joining the Global Concert Network to organizing a musical performance, dedicating a portion of an existing show, or by contributing to the eStage internet radio programming.

We encourage all of our students to consider joining this initiative, remembering a great man and promoting the positive values of humanity.
