ICC Engages Columbia Students Surrounding Ahmadinejad Visit

To prepare for the unprecedented visit of Iran's President Ahmadinejad at Columbia University on September 24th, 2007, the Israel on Campus Coalition has worked closely with ICC member organizations to provide resources and engage students at Columbia University and in the greater New York area.

On Thursday, September 20th, the ICC held a nationwide conference call -- including representatives from most of the ICC's 31 member organizations -- to help plan a unified response.

On Friday, September 21st, the ICC team worked with a wide range of member organizations to gather educational materials and other related resources (including signs, pamphlets, t-shirts, etc.) to provide to students for Monday's large student-led demonstration on Columbia's campus.

On Sunday, September 23rd, the ICC organized and helped to staff a series of workshops for Columbia students at Columbia/Barnard Hillel.  These workshops -- featuring sessions led by six ICC member organizations -- helped to educate students about the threat posed by Iran and train students to respond effectively today and in the future.

In addition, the ICC made a significant grant to Columbia/Barnard Hillel -- which took the lead on Columbia's campus in spearheading Monday's demonstration -- to cover most of the costs associated with the campus-wide rally.
