ICC Awards: Call for Nominations

ICC Best Practices Contest

So that the ICC may compile “best practices” for countering anti-Israel sentiment on campus and shifting the focus to a positive message about Israel, students are invited to submit entries for the ICC’s first Best Practices Contest! Contest entries should detail both the campus “problem” (anti-Israel activity/sentiment) and the pro-Israel response.

The two best entries (as judged by the ICC Steering Committee) will be published in the May 28, 2009 ICC e-newsletter, and the authors of those essays will be invited to participate in the ICC Spring Consultation on May 21, 2009 in Washington, DC. (Travel expenses will be paid by the ICC.)

The authors of the two best entries will also each receive a $150 gift certificate to Amazon.com. The winning essays and those awarded “honorable mention” by the ICC Steering Committee will be compiled and distributed as a resource for campus professionals and student leaders.

To enter, students must submit via email (ragoldberg@israelcc.org) an essay of no more than one typewritten page in length which addresses the following questions:

  • What was the general nature of the Israel climate on your campus prior to the current semester?
  • What types of anti-Israel activity occurred on your campus during the current semester?
  • What types of pro-Israel activities took place during the current semester to counter that anti-Israel activity?
  • What has been the impact of the pro-Israel campus activities?

Each essay may have only one author, and the email submission should contain the student’s full name, university and expected year of graduation.

The deadline for entry is Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

By submitting an essay to the contest, each author acknowledges that the text of the essay, in whole or in part, may be published physically and/or electronically and distributed.

This contest is open to any full-time student (undergraduate or graduate) enrolled in a U.S. college or university as of April 30, 2009.
