ICC Israel @ 60 Student Leadership Mission

To celebrate Israel’s 60th anniversary, the Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC) will facilitate an Israel mission, December 27th to January 6th, entitled ICC Israel @ 60 Student Leadership Mission.

This trip will target open-minded North American Jewish students representing each of the ICC organizations, and will feature the following components:

  • Community Service – To show solidarity with Israel through action, students will participate in meaningful community service projects in various locations in Israel. In partnership with Israeli service organizations, students will spend several hours working in service placements and learning about various domestic and geopolitical issues facing Israel.
  • Educational Seminars – Students will learn about the various facets of Israel from top Israeli scholars and others, while also learning how to increase opportunities to study Israel on campus through the ICC’s Israel in Academia initiative.
  • Advocacy Initiatives – Students will take part in a series of advocacy initiatives while in Israel, such as corresponding with members of Congress and leaders on their college campuses, including College Democrats and College Republicans; drafting op-ed pieces about Israel for college press; etc.
  • High-Level Briefings – Students will meet with Israeli dignitaries, professors, scholars and other experts to show solidarity with Israel at its 60th anniversary and to communicate Israel-related American college campus trends.

The hallmark of the ICC Israel @ 60 Student Leadership Mission will be the opportunity for each ICC organization to nominate two top activists to participate, and for these students to work collaboratively with peers who span the political and religious spectrum during the trip. ICC organizations will be required to pay $500 per student (The total cost of the trip for organization is $1000).

The ICC Israel @ 60 Student Leadership Mission will also serve as the first meeting of the delegates of the ICC’s Student Leadership Council (SLC), which will convene twice more during the subsequent year to discuss campus trends, share best practices, develop new strategies for campus collaboration and provide insight and tactical approaches for the implementation of the ICC’s initiatives. Students selected for the SLC must be sophomores or juniors.
