The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is the oldest pro-Israel organization in the country. Founded in 1897 to help re-establish the Jewish State in the Land of Israel, the ZOA currently has chapters throughout the United States, as well as on campuses.
The ZOA strengthens America-Israel relations through missions to Washington and to Israel for members and for policy-makers, conferences and seminars with leading scholars and members of Congress, and publication and distribution of educational literature, and by combating the anti-Israel bias in the media, in textbooks, and at universities.
The ZOA invites students to participate in the following programs:
Campus Activism Network (CAN)The ZOA Campus Activism Network works with students across the country, providing educational materials about Israel, sending dynamic speakers to campuses, and inviting students to participate on national advocacy programs and campaigns. The ZOA publishes a student-written and produced magazine,
The College Zionist, and distributes 15,000 copies on campuses. In addition, the Campus Activism Network organizes student missions to Israel which include campus advocacy training, meetings with government officials, and volunteer activities. The ZOA's campus department also collaborated with Birthright Israel and provides an advocacy track for Birthright Israel participants who are interested in learning about promoting Israel on campus. The Campus Activism Network offers innovate programs and activities for college students to participate on, including:
Israel TripsThe ZOA Israel program includes Israel advocacy seminars to train students to be campus activists. In addition to leadership training, students volunteer by visiting children in hospitals, delivering school supplies to immigrants, and building playgrounds for Jewish communities. E-mail

ZOA Advocacy Mission to Capitol Hill The ZOA has an annual mission to Washington, DC, during which members present important issues related to Israel in meetings with top lawmakers and government officials, and enjoy briefings and lectures from experts on Mideast affairs.
Center for Law and Justice
The ZOA has been a leader in the fight against anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment wherever it occurs, including on college campuses. In November 2005, the ZOA was on a panel of experts that furnished testimony to the Commission at a briefing on campus anti-Semitism. The testimony at the briefing eventually led to a public education campaign to end anti-Semitism on college campuses, spearheaded by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The Commission launched a new website as part of its public campaign, which the ZOA is helping promote. The site, at
www.eusccr.com, is an important effort to educate students and others about anti-Semitism, to urge witnesses of anti-Semitism to report incidents, and to list sources of help for students. The ZOA legal arm welcomes research assistance from law students and undergraduates for our endeavors to fight for Israel in the courts.
