Surrounding the celebration of Israel’s 60th anniversary, groups intent on criticizing its founding and existence have organized anti-Israel events around the United States. These groups have focused on the notion that it has been 60 years since the “Nakba,” an Arabic word meaning ‘catastrophe’ or ‘disaster’ that many Palestinians and Arabs use to refer to the 1948 war and the establishment of the State of Israel. Many of the events have been marked by accusations of Israeli “apartheid” and “ethnic cleansing,” and have invoked offensive comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany.
A new report on this activity, which will be updated throughout the year, is now available on the ADL web site.
The report is the latest addition to the U.S. Anti-Israel Activity web page, which contains news stories on anti-Israel events, campaigns and movements; backgrounders on active groups and individuals; a slide show of anti-Israel protests, as well as other resources.
