Speaker: Elli Wohlgelernter




Veteran journalist Elli Wohlgelernter, television reporter for IBA English News in Jerusalem (www.iba.org.il, click “English TV News”), will be conducting a lecture tour in the United States this fall from October 16 through November 5, and is available to speak in your community.

His topics are: "A New Prime Minister, And A New President: Rocky Road, Or Smooth Sailing?,” a perspective on the future of U.S.-Israel relations, and its impact on the Middle East; and "The Middle East, the Media and the Message," a look at how newspapers, television and radio cover the situation, and how bias and ignorance affects that coverage. Mr. Wohlgelernter was also sports editor of the just-published second edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica, and can speak on Jews in sports as well. An extended question-and-answer session will follow the lecture.

Elli Wohlgelernter previously worked as an editor at Haaretz, and was Diaspora Affairs editor and Jerusalem reporter for The Jerusalem Post. Prior to moving to Israel in 1991, he was managing editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a reporter for the New York Post, wrote and reported the news for the Fox and ABC-TV affiliates in New York and Seattle, and for radio stations in New York and Connecticut. Mr. Wohlgelernter, 54, has two daughters and lives in Jerusalem.
